Gabriela Encarnación Burgos
Research Intern
Gabriela is a rising junior at the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey, majoring in Biology. She aspires to pursue an MD-PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on neuroscience to bridge the gap between scientific research and clinical practice while improving healthcare access for underserved and medically indigent communities across Puerto Rico. Her previous research focused on the molecular mechanisms of alcohol tolerance, particularly the role of miR-9 in BK channel regulation. She is now excited to expand her experience in the clinical and translational aspects of neuroscience research. In her free time, Gabriela enjoys playing tennis, practicing the piano, and spending time at the beach.
