Jorge Ortega Marquez, MD, MMSc

Biomedical Informatics Research Data Scientist I

Jorge earned his MD from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (2023) and a Master of Medical Sciences from Harvard Medical School (2025), along with certificates in Business Administration from the Harvard Griffin Business Club and Biomedical Innovation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His thesis centered on developing neuroplasticity-based clinical tools to advance neurorehabilitation. He also completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Neuromodulation Center, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where he directed a clinical trial investigating how placebo-driven neuroplasticity influences stroke recovery using neuroimaging tools. For three years, he has served as a Senior Teaching Assistant in a Clinical Research program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. In his new role, he will focus on combining clinical research and computational neuroscience to identify brain circuits underlying symptoms in autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions, with the goal of translating these insights into new targets for noninvasive neuromodulation therapies. In his free time, Jorge enjoys swimming, photography, salsa dancing, and eating tacos.
